A three day creative workshop with artist Adela Jušić

December 4 – 6, 2020
Registration by: November 30, 2020

Kuma International in collaboration with artist Adela Jušić will host a three day creative workshop focusing on the practice of experimental art.

During the workshop participants will explore and discover creative ways of expression through collage, but also through the mediums and techniques of drawing, photography, digital photography, as well as using various processes such as printing, scanning, composing, arranging, cutting, copying, recycling and experimenting. Workshop participants will learn how to bring the various layers and raw pieces of materials into their final forms, to explore a variety of materials, create works on paper as well as digital works. Experimentation will be encouraged with an emphasis on visual elements (composition, color, pattern etc.), narrative use of collage and political contexts.

Throughout the 20th century, artists across many movements, mediums, and styles began to explore collage. Coined by cubist artists Braque and Picasso, who began working with various mediums to create avant-garde assemblages around 1910, the term collage comes from the French word coller, or to glue. This inventive and innovative approach attracted artists due to its one-of-a-kind aesthetic and unique, pieced-together processes. Collages can be created from a range of materials, though most are made of paper or wood and often feature cut-and-pasted photographs, painted forms, or even 3-dimensional objects. An important characteristic of the collage is that it doesn’t require formal art education. It can be mastered by anyone – through play and instinct and acting from their inner necessity.

The workshop will be held at the AABH Creative HUB in Alipašina 2, Sarajevo 71000

Due to the restrictions related to COVID-19, admission will be reserved for up to 10 participants. For a safe and responsible implementation, participants will be asked to wear a face mask during the entire duration of the event.
